AUSOM (Apple [Macintosh] Users Society Of Melbourne) has provided 45 years of service to Apple users, the first meeting was held early in March of 1980, according to an article published in the group’s latest colour PDF magazine. Sometime around 1993 a member volunteered to take on the job of compiling the monthly magazine.
She is still doing it, producing 11 high quality 48-page magazines from February to December annually. I’m proud to have been involved in this organisation since mid 2003.

Hip hip hooray!
Congratulations for serving the needs of Macintosh Users Down Under (and Around Our Blue Marble). The Corvallis Macintosh User Group (Oregon) recently went to sleep after Lew Nelson’s departure from this world. I recall leading a HyperCard class with Tom Newman around 1988 or so. CMUG too, around for decades. I am happy to report that the website of the Oregon [Pioneers] Mac User Group (formerly Portland) is sponsored/supported by Oregon State University, my alma mater.
AUSOM, your magazine editor/producer is awesome. Quite a lot of effort. Keep up the good work. Remember, succession planning.

February 19, 2025 at 10:24 amThanks, Peter, for bringing Ausom’s Sapphire anniversary to NMUG’s attention. As we built NMUG over the years, Ausom provided lots of great ideas. You are certainly correct the Ausom Monthly Magazine is a work of art and the best out there of all MUG/Apple groups. We feel honored to have you as a member of NMUG and a great contributor to our Message Board.
