Guests Access to Meetings

Dear Ekhart,

I have a suggestion regarding Guest Access. I am in another large group with $40 annual dues. We charge $10 for guests to attend a meeting. This is high enough that it “encourages” people to join. That’s working at my other group.

A good marketing tool for your group. If you are a betting person it doesn’t take much to figure out that if there were more than four classes worth attending during the year, an annual membership is the better deal.

I was part of a group several years ago that was offered a free month of meetings. After a month I was hooked. Got the offer through Take Control Books.

I don’t think having a few additional people for a couple of meetings costs anything. Why not run a “special” with a specified number of free meetings every three or four or six months?

We definitely want to offer some form of a free promotion.

Our problem is that once we give a meeting ID out for someone to try NMUG, they now have the meeting ID for all our Wednesday meetings, as they all use the same Zoom ID. We don’t have this problem with the classes as each class has a different meeting ID, so knowing one ID wouldn’t get in all the others.

What we used to do is cross check people’ name against a member spreadsheet when they signed in. That was a lot of work as you can imagine!

What we are looking at is having a separate meeting ID for each Wednesday meeting, much like our classes are. This would start in the fall.

This would let us run a continuous free trial program without having to worry about giving the meeting ID for the entire year, but it would be a shift for our members. Every Wednesday Meeting would have a different ID. ?

I like the $10 idea. But maybe make it $5 to encourage a trial.
