Recents empty in Finder

I recently (no pun intended) noticed that my Recents in Favorites is empty and stubbornly remains so.

I am macOS Sequoia 15.3.1

1. I never show Recents either in Finder or the Dock as this feature is useless clutter for me.

2. For Finder try unchecking and rechecking the sidebar choice in settings and log out and back in to your apple id.

I have recent apps set to show in the Dock but lately that had also been empty. So I recreated it as a Saved Search.

Open Applications and select ⌘F, Choose Kind–>Application, then click + at the far right.

Now select “Last Opened Date” and “within last” then set the chosen period. I use 4 days.

Now click the save button and rename the file “Recent Apps.” Allow the result to be saved to Saved Searches and be sure to select “Add To Sidebar.”

Right or control-click on the new item in the finder’s Sidebar and choose “Add to Dock” then repeat the process selecting” Remove from Sidebar.” now the recent apps saved search is in the dock and gone from the Sidebar.

Right or control-click the new item in the Dock and choose Folder in the “Display as” section.
