The M1 chip was introduced in late 2020. As the years go by, advances in tech are made, OSs and apps require more processing power and lessen that “2020 power.” Hence you have the M4 chips at this date. The best item to keep your computer from growing older and slower sooner is having more RAM. If you are a casual user, your setup may be just fine for you, for now. If waking from sleep is an issue, restart your computer. Processes (or apps) running in the background continuously sometimes, or often, get corrupted over time and a restart may fix the issue.
